The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (X360) > Opinions (152)

@Pezus - Skyrim will undoubtedly have some of the greatest legs for an RPG. Most Bethesda games do. I think that 5m copies of Skyrim on 360 is likely.

And 4 million people bothered to 'waste' time in Morrowind...

@ Puggsly - Its the same for everything in life, most people want easy handouts rather than to have to think through and work things out.

steep drop week 2, but held up very nice week 3. It didn't get any black friday sales either so that gives me hope it wasn't just BF.

@ DepthAlly - Morrowind sold well, but Oblivion had a wider appeal.

@ ManusJustus - Good for you sir, you put the time into that game that many of us don't want. For the record, games that hold your hand tend to sell better. This is why developers don't care what you personally prefer.

ManusJustus posted 30/11/2011, 01:41
Puggsly, Morrowind gave you a map with directions, books or letters accompanying quests, leaving it up to you to find it. I beat Morrowind without ever looking at a strategy guide, and I would much prefer games make me figure things out than hold my hand the whole way.

DepthAlly posted 30/11/2011, 05:24
@MrPuggsly @mrstickball you guys realize Morrowind sold really well as well. 1.84m is damn good, given the circumstances. So I wouldn't say Morrowind had a problem with appeal or getting overlooked.

Mr Puggsly posted 29/11/2011, 09:48
@ mrstickball - No, Morrowind just wasn't as appealing. Personally I couldn't get into the game because there was no compass telling you where to go and I don't want to use a strategy through the whole game.

Looks like its been overadjusted, according to the new global thing it sold 1.79 million week 1.

Puggsly, I think the issue was that few people actually knew about Morrowind on Xbox. It takes time for such a fanbase to grow.
Message | Report
Mr Puggsly posted 27/11/2011, 05:15
@ Kizmi - Well the fanbase grew significantly after the release of Oblivion. The games prior to Oblivion didn't have the same appeal.

Kizmi posted 23/11/2011, 06:36
I think millions bigger userbase on consoles made it sell much more than Oblivion did in 2006

hopefully these sales will cause appesda (or whatever they're called) to focus more one elder scrolls and less on fallout

@pokeclaudel: It's sold so much better simply because it is one of the greatest games ever made.

pokeclaudel posted 21/11/2011, 10:34
Why is this game doing so much better then oblivion on consoles? Did the inclusion of dragons do this much. I know the dragons were the reason I went for it.

enrageorange posted 19/11/2011, 01:45
When Japan numbers get added next month this will have done 2mil+ in its two day "first week". Great sales and all online retailers seem to hint at a very small week 2. Its still near the top of every major retailer's online chart despite a half dozen games releasing this week.

94% Meta. 1.2 mill first week. 4.5 million lifetime.

Oblivion sold over 3.5 mill on X360 alone. Skyrim will take a step to the next level and increase those sales. 4.5 million. 1 million first week.

yahoocom1984 posted 05/02/2011, 02:51
Now Oblivion has sold 5.54 million on two consoles, maybe 2 million on PC, so that's 7.54 million now, Oblivion can reach 8 million

yahoocom1984 posted 14/12/2010, 03:47
well, Oblivion sold 3.3 million on XBOX360, over 2 million on PS3; possibly sold even better on PC! So I predict Skyrim will sell at least 9 million copies across all 3 platforms!

I expect this game to sell another 10 million when the remaster on PS4/X1 comes out.
They will be perfect versions.

Uhh, it IS the best-selling rpg of all-time. It surely is not FFVII, which used to be. But that game only sold like 9-10 million copies on PS1. Skyrim has sold 20 million across 3 platforms (Xbox360, PS3 and PC)

an outstanding feat this game is amazing on the level of complete freedom of exploration only that compares is maybe GTA and minecraft in terms of freedom. Only complaints are the lack of any gear or item depth and the skill progression is funky and makes the game way too easy as you can have 1 character mastering everything which is a bore once you get past lvl 50. 9.7/10

enrageorange posted 25/12/2012, 01:58
Will be above 7mil by the end of the year. It is very possible that it will pass 8mil lifetime. The legs of this game put most other hd games to shame considering this doesn't have any bundles that get counted towards sales.

aye Iveyboi, ever since the original xbox had a really nice port of morrowwind on it the xbox has had a fair bit of Elder scrolls love, ontop of that you have the DLC being released first for the 360.... then a month or 2 later on the pc and now it looks like not at all on the ps3. so yeah good reason to own this on the 360.
