Man, just found out that Tekken 3 sold 8.5 million copies worldwide. By far the most sold in the series! Tekken 5 did well too with 6 million. By the end of 2017 Tekken 7 was announced at 3 million so I guess it's doing good at least.

Yeah Tekken 7 is the funnest fighting game out this year.

Tekken was always about the legs. It will easily do 2.5 million LT at retail and another million in digital sales.

I'm surprised it even managed a million. Fighting games are niche.

Man this just seems so low for a Tekken game.

Undertracked. According to Harada(series director of Tekken 7). Tekken 7 has sold over 2 million copies on consoles(June to september) I doubt a month of update would add that much for VGchartz' numbers to match considering how low they are tracking tekken 7.

@StreaK - No, the is simply gore is part of what makes MK interesting. But more importantly its also a fun fighting game that thrived again when the gameplay improved in MK9.

@specedelete - Your argument is essentially gore keeps MK from being a traditional fighter. I get the impression you have played much of those games because they're pretty well balanced competitive fighting games. Gore aside they're very traditional.

@spacedelete Yeah, I think you're right! I thought about it and I think MK's violent style and dark nature is what is selling it. There are a ton of gore fans out there and MK fits that void perfectly.

@StreaK mortal kombat isn't a traditional fighting game. people buy it for the gore, blood and fatalities rather than the fighting. smash bros which people buy for nintendo nostalgia and mortal kombat for the gore aren't traditional fighting games. by traditional i mean games like street fighter, tekken, guilty gear which dont really sell well anymore. they all have their hardcore but everyone else dont buy them.

@spacedelete Yeah, MK seems to be selling better than even in its prime time in the 90's. The new MK games are the best selling games in the entire franchise.

it sells at the same pace like Tekken 6, and above TTT2

@streaK Tekken 6 actually outsold 5 and 4. It was released on PS3, 360 and PSP.

@oniyide: Injustice2 is also selling the same PS4/XBO ratio. I highly doubt people think Injustice 2 is PS4 exclusive.

Wow, this series really died after Tekken 5. Hard to believe it sold so well prior to Tekken 4.

considering how its selling on Xone i think people think it is exclusive

Honestly this would have generated more hype and sales by being exclusive to PS4.

I kind of want to get this game to "get into" fighting games. But i don't know. So far the numbers are estimated at 374,372 when you include the American and European PS4 and Xbox One versions. We'll see how Japan fairs. That's really good for a fighting game launch(I'm pretty sure at least?)

I don't think we'll see a million first week, but I would love to be wrong :o

Really getting excited about the opening numbers. I'm hoping for over a million first week. This is pretty much like the best Tekken yet and probably the best fighting game I've ever played based strictly on a gameplay level. Freaking well done game with exceptionally tight control and playability.

Neither can I, ruler. Neither can I.
I hope it plays like Tekken 5 and NOT Tekken 6 (the worst in the franchise).
